LAST WEEK'S PROGRAM

Rubi Simon and ACTS Honduras’ team leader Ethan LaRochelle, providing us with a report on the ACTS Honduras Trip our club supported. Ethan led the trip accompanied by a travel team of six other individuals with a range of areas of expertise. The acronym ACTS stands for AmericansCaring Teaching Sharing, and the ACTS group in Hanover has been working with a mountain village in Honduras mountain located at least three hours from a grocery store over hilly dirt roads. Their projects include: upgrading the library, offering teacher training in mathematics, installing and operating a weather station, offering ESL instruction, providing soil improvement consultation, and working with their fire department. Hanover’s team was augmented by doctors from Honduras. Rubi and Ethan showed slides that illustrated the trip’s logistics and lodging, the scenery en route and at the site, and the various programs. The work by this group is clearly worthy of our club’s support.
