The Rotary Club ZOOM begins! Your fearless (and perhaps foolhardy) newsletter editor is going to invite everyone to a Zoom meeting that Liam will host. I’m hoping to get a speaker from Opera North to brief us on what they are doing to make ends meet during the pandemic. Failing that, we might go back to the deep traditions of Rotary and share how our individual businesses (or home lives) are coping during this period of isolation. Here’s the schedule for the meeting:

 

11:45 AM – Hands-on Tutorial

 

12:00 PM – Meeting begins

 

12:45 PM – Meeting concludes

 

 

If you haven’t used ZOOM, here’s a one minute tutorial can stop watching after 26 seconds because as the host for the meeting, I will be waiting to see you when you arrive. 

 

 

When you join the meeting, you will not be able to speak to anyone because I have set up the meeting so that everyone’s microphone is muted. I did that because when multiple microphones are open there is often lots of feedback… and, also, since we are talking to each other in our homes we may be hearing ambient noises in the background. 

 

My plan as the first time host is to make sure everyone is conversant with the technology and then turn the platform over to Liam. One of the things Liam hopes to discuss is how to collect donations from meeting attendees going forward and how we can best serve the community as a club as we navigate this pandemic.
