LAST WEEK'S ANNOUNCEMENTS

President Tom Csatari reported that fifty to sixty people attended last night's event celebrating the 23 charities awarded contributions from our gala auction proceeds. He extended thanks to Heidi Postupack who organized a fabulous event!

Jed Williamson reported that the college student who was lost on Mount Moosilauke had been found walking barefoot in the snow and is recovering from his ordeal.

Tom Csatari reported that three canoes struggling in strong currents on the Connecticut River were fortunate when one of the canoes, carrying three Dartmouth students without life jackets, capsized. Fortunately for the students, a rescue boat had already been launched and was nearby. Everyone was saved.

Dave Bradley reported that the town meeting last night was the first in his decades of memory that had no angry people. He congratulated Julia Griffin for working to keep our community civil and engaged.

And in a serendipitous coincidence,Julia Griffin won the raffle… which was an opportunity to contribute a Happy Dollar. Julia Griffin her Happy Dollar as a reminder for people to bring in their trash, grills and bird feeders because Mink is headed back to Hanover and will be on the prowl!

Nan Carrollintended to contribute a Happy Dollar to thank Heidi Postupack for organizing a great event -- but Tom had already done that. She then thought she might congratulate Julia Griffin for her excellent appearance on public radio -- but Julia already was congratulated. So now Nan decided to contributed a Happy Dollar to celebrate the arrival of her ninth granddaughter. Nan's daughter Winslow formally adopted a nine year old who has lived with her for the past two and half years as a foster child.

Rob Adams contributed a Happy Dollar on behalf of his son, Charlie, a Junior at Hanover High School, who has decided to bring his soccer talents to Brown University.

Kathy Geraghty offered a Happy Dollar in honor her son who earned his doctorate.

Bob Ashton offered a Happy Dollar to recognize the selfless act of a Dartmouth student on a skateboard who helped lift a heavy aerator onto a trailer. Bob pledged to never complain anymore about skateboarders.

Todd Allen offered a Happy Dollar because his wife, Peg, is healing after slipping on the ice and hitting her head while visiting Saint Petersburg, Russia. He reported that she spent two weeks in a Russian hospital receiving good medical care and, when she returned home, had a craniotomy at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
