THIS WEEK’S PROGRAM

Wayne Gersen introduces Erik Schultz the head of the Ascutney Trails Association, a local grassroots organization that has converted that old ski way into a destination resort for mountain bikers and hikers as well as old school skiers. This NYTimes article offers some background.

Password: 254494

The Zoom Room opens at 11:45 AM… after a flurry of announcements there will be a 15-20 period where we will mute the sound before we introduce the speaker at roughly 12:35

LAST WEEK’S SPEAKER:

Julia Griffin introduced Rob Houseman, the town planner, who gave an overview of the Town’s DRAFT sustainability plan and asked for feedback from the club members. While your trusty scribe was not present, I think it is safe to report that at least one member raised the issue of parking. Thanks to Julia for making the introduction and to Rob for offering a timely report.

LAST WEEK’S ROTARIAN OF THE WEEK:

I missed the presentation by Denise Dahlberg, last week’s “Rotarian of the Week”, but I am sure it was as compelling as the earlier presentations we’ve heard from fellow Rotarians over the past several weeks.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

As noted above, I missed the meeting... but...

I am pretty sure that David Allen reminded club members that they might consider joining in a community effort to fix up the Old Dartmouth Cemetery on May 6, reinforcing the fact that a free lunch will be provided for those who work the entire day.

I’m sure that David Allen briefed the club on decisions rendered at the Board meeting scheduled for Tuesday, April 26.

Finally, I am relatively certain Arthur Gardiner announced that he had received even more donations for placemat ads and that Kevin Wenger and Len Cadwallader encouraged all club members to sign up for the Pancake Breakfast, which will be held on May 7 at Storrs Pond. Kevin sent out a link to register later in the week. Here it is: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0E4AADAB2DA1FF2-pancake

June 29 - Wayne Gersen will introduce Amanda Gokee, journalist for the New Hampshire Bulletin who covers environmental issues.

It doesn’t seem like it, but summer is only eight weeks from now and we’ll be looking for speakers starting from July 6 onward… Any ideas would be welcome! Believe it or not, we try to get our speakers lined up 4-6 weeks ahead of time… so now’s a good time to share your ideas or extend some tentative invitations. Who wouldn’t want a chance to talk to our club and get a free burger!
