THIS WEEK’S PROGRAM

Heather Drinan will introduce Lee Webster, who will tell us about the green funeral movement. I BELIEVE this link will take you to a Twitter Feed that will, in turn, take you to a Valley News article that was published on this topic on April 15: https://westlebanonvalleynews-nh.newsmemory.com/publink.php?shareid=31822875a

If it doesn't work by pasting into your message box, try clicking here. And if that doesn't work... I'm open to any advice anyone can offer!

LAST WEEK'S ANNOUNCEMENTS

Liam McCarthy capably filled in for President Tom Csatari who was traveling.

We had three HAPPY DOLLARS
  • Dennis Logue contributed a Happy Dollar in honor of his retirement as Chairman of the Board at Ledyard Bank, a retirement the bank requires of 75-year olds.
  • Dick Podolec contributed a Happy Dollar in honor of recently deceased Lebanon Rotarian Sue Donnelly who launched the Rotaract Club at Lebanon High School who just opened a food pantry at the site of the former Listen Store.
  • Nan Carroll offered a Happy Dollar in appreciation of Deb Blanc's willingness to step up as chair of the Rotary Auction... and Deb used the opportunity to being recruiting for assistance on all fronts--- especially securing corporate donors!
This week's raffle winner was Dennis Logue who was given the opportunity to ring rotary bell twice! He decided to wait to do so and ultimately missed his chance at this meeting. I am certain he will redeem this opportunity at a future meeting!

LAST WEEK'S PROGRAM

Daniel Chamberlin, the Associate Librarian for Digital Strategies at Dartmouth College, shared some insights on changes to libraries in the past several decades, illustrating those changes by asking us to share our associations with "libraries". It's evident that card catalogues, stacks, fines, books, and even DVDs are passe in today's digital world. Today's library is associated with community space... connectivity... and expertise beyond what Alexa can provide. Increasingly college libraries provide space for face-to-face conversations and meetings, access to internet resources that are not readily available on the public web, and staff members who can helping people "...find information that Google won’t or can’t give them", staff members who can help answer questions about the trustworthiness of information.
